Boy Scouts

Boys – Grades 7-12 (ages 10.5-18)
Third and fourth Friday, 7:00 – 9:00 p.m.

Boy Scout Troop: A boy can be a Scout if he has completed the fifth grade and is at least 10 years old or is age 11 or has earned the Arrow of Light Award and is at least 10 years old, but has NOT reached age 18. The mission of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) is to prepare young boys to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetime by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law, and to help them develop into honorable men.

 

 

Career Development Ministry

First Saturdays, 8:30 a.m., Room 325

The Career Development Ministry (CDM), composed largely of recruiting and human resources professionals, provides career development information and support to individuals seeking employment or a career change.  Everyone, including the general public, is welcome to attend our events.  The CDM desires to encourage, equip and empower participants to land the right job that compliments the participant’s background and experience.  We provide modern tools through workshops that are focused on online job searches, resume development, networking, pay negotiations, and interviewing techniques for private – and federal – sector jobs.  We encourage the exchange of employment information and ideas and the sharing of resources.

 

 

Cub Scouts

Boys – Grades 1-6 (ages 6 – 10.5)

Cub Scouts is a fun and educational program concerned with values. The Cub Scouts program provides a positive place where boys can enjoy safe, wholesome activities, focusing on building character, improving physical fitness, learning practical skills, and developing a spirit of community service.

 

 

Entrepreneurs Ministry

Third Third Sunday of each month, 2:00 – 4:00 p.m., Room 211/212.

The mission of the Entrepreneurship Ministry (EM) is to connect church members interested in starting their own business or taking their existing business to the next level with other church members and individuals who have had success with self-owned businesses. The primary goal of the ministry is to have the successful entrepreneurs mentor, provide guidance and share best practices on how to launch and perpetuate successful ventures with up and coming entrepreneurs.

 

 

Girl Scouts

Girl Scouts is for girls (grades K-12).
Girl Scouts Troop meetings are held every third and fourth Fridays.

The mission of Girl Scouts is to build girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place. Girls achieve this by participating in activities to develop life skills and by actively applying what they learn through hands-on community service and leadership opportunities. Currently, we offer six troops to engage girls from Kindergarten through grade 12. Meetings usually take place at the church although there are times when special events or activities take place away from the church or on other days/times of the month.

 

 

Going Green Ministry

The Going Green Ministry is dedicated to Community Stewardship Awareness. . It is our mission to help those in our church family and community understand the importance of having a sustainable environment through education and outreach efforts. The Going Green Ministry is more than just about recycling, we hope to help each one of our church family members understand the relationship we have with maintaining a balance with God and nature, so that our home is here for future generations.

 

 

Historical Tours

The mission of the historical tours is to educate new members on the rich history of ASBC through annual tours that permit them to see sites associated with ASBC that they may have heard or read about. Two tours are conducted each summer and early fall. Members may bring family and friends from outside of ASBC to spread the gospel beyond our walls.

 

 

Junior Youth Ministry (JYM)

The Junior Youth Ministry age group is ages 8-12.
Second Friday, at 7:00 p.m. (6:30 p.m. for dinner) in the Multipurpose Room.

The purpose of the Junior Youth Ministry is to provide an age appropriate spiritual and recreational program that meets the needs of children ages 8 – 12. This ministry is actively involved in encouraging youth to know and accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. JYM also offers discipleship training and promotes spiritual and personal growth. It offers children in the upper elementary and early middle school age groups, the opportunity to fellowship and build Christian character. Our theme is “We are building FAITH in Christ through FUN while enjoying FELLOWSHIP with one another.”

 

 

Marriage Ministry

The purpose of the Marriage Ministry is to enrich the lives of couples and those engaged to be married to bring them to a closer and more intimate relationship with God and their spouses through Biblical education, workshops, retreats, conferences, seminars, and recreational activities.

 

 

Men’s Ministry

The goals and objectives of the Men’s Ministry are to actively engage all men disciples of the Alfred Street Baptist Church in MINISTRY; we believe that through our works and our example, lives will be impacted, burdens lightened and souls transformed: All for the Cause of Jesus Christ.

 

 

Military Ministry

The mission of the Military Ministry is to provide opportunities for military veterans, and to serve deployed soldiers, the local military community of veterans, and provide opportunities for fellowship.

 

 

Seasoned Saints (Seniors Ministry)

Second and Fourth Wednesday; Bible Study: Noon, Adkins Chapel; Fellowship: 1:00 p.m., Multipurpose Room

The purpose of the Seniors Ministry is to identify and address the spiritual, educational, personal, health, safety and social support needs of our senior members and  to reach out to seniors in the community and invite them to experience Christian fellowship at the Alfred Street Baptist Church.

 

 

Senior Youth Ministry

Age 13 – 18
First Friday 7:00 p.m., Multipurpose room, October – June. (The season can end in May, depending on summer activities.)

The Senior Youth Ministry dedicates time, love and energy to foster the personal spiritual growth of the teens at ASBC. Our main mission is to lead the youth to accept Christ as their Lord and Savior, empower and equip them to be Christian examples and leaders everywhere they go, and to build fruitful relationships as their mentors.

 

 

Singles Ministry

The Singles Ministry brings together singles of all ages — never married, divorced or widowed who want to deepen their relationship with God. You’ll find ways to connect with Him and others through seminars, prayer partnering, mission outreach and fellowship.

 

 

Women’s Ministry

The Women’s Ministry is committed to: inspiring each sister in the faith to continuously build a better relationship with God and each other; connecting women to God and woman-to-woman; and supporting the spiritual growth for our ASBC sisters and sisters all over our community.

 

 

Young Adult Ministry

The Young Adult Ministry (YAM) serves men and women ages 21–-39. This ministry seeks to encourage and equip young adults to grow and strengthen their relationship with God as well as to help create and grow connections of young adults to the body of Christ .YAM serves as a resource for young adults to deepen their faith through practice by focusing on fellowship, community outreach, spiritual growth, and personal/professional development.
